| About the Artist
Born in Manhattan, NY, Nancy Morris (Ring) received a Bachelor's Degree in Fine Art from the University of California at Santa Cruz. Her paintings are primarily abstract/impressionist in style. Whether landscape or figure, the plethora of shapes and colors careening across the canvas appear arbitrary, impulsive - form and color erupting, colliding; evolving from light and shadow. However, beneath this apparent chaos dwells a sense of order, peace. Ms. Morris' choice of bold, sometimes clashing colors are laid down with broad, sensual strokes causing sky blue and soft citrus tones to blend, merge with the stronger magentas and oranges. Beneath the brightness of her figures, one senses other dynamics in play. A sense of resolution and serenity lay beneath the exhilarating surface splash. Her paintings have been displayed in numerous galleries including: Ikosmos Gallery; Santa Cruz Open Studio; Art Mart Gallery; Cedar St Gallery of Santa Cruz; Divine Femminine Gallery of Monterey, CA; Carriage House, University of California at Santa Cruz, CA; and College Five Art Gallery, University of California at Santa Cruz, CA. An award winning artist, Ms. Ring is a member of the WCA. She presently lives in northern California with her family. |
